Services and Rates
The Portable Scribe is a transcription and document service for individuals and organizations. Our team works days, nights, and weekends, and is usually available for urgent last-minute requests. Our clients vary from psychiatrists in private practice to oral historians to governmental organizations. We are able to handle both one-time and ongoing projects. Though located in Portland, Maine, through digital dictation The Portable Scribe works for clients throughout the United States and beyond.
Who Is Jill?
Jill Cournoyer started The Portable Scribe as a solo transcription and editing business in 2007. Due to an increasing workload, she began hiring subcontractors last year. With a Master’s Degree in American/New England Studies and journalism experience, she is now working on expanding the personal and organizational history side of the business, The Stories We Tell. To date she has collaborated on three local histories in Maine. Away from work, she enjoys reading, photography, the outdoors, and volunteering for Friends of Feral Felines.
Who Is Gudrun?
Gudrun Cram-Drach has worked as a designer and production artist for national magazines, a textbook production house, and led the edit, redesign, and reprinting of a 19th century book of Maine Legends. She’s an avid fan of writing and reading literature for children, and works as an acquisitions reader for a French publisher. She joined The Portable Scribe in 2016 as a transcriptionist and otherwise keeps busy raising twins just outside of Paris, France.
